When the everyday constraint of financial stability collides with the 'axiom of loving finitude,' under what conditions can that constraint limit an individual's temperamental choices?

My answer would be that a harsh environment overrides temperament. Unfortunately, even someone born with a Buddha-like temperament, if they go through a situation where poverty leaves them unable to do anything while someone they love suffers, I think they would end up with trauma. Practical constraints can overwhelm human will and idealistic aspirations by a wide margin.
